THE FANTASTICKS tells an allegorical story, loosely based on the play "The Romancers" ("Les Romanesques") by Edmond Rostand, concerning two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud. The fathers hire traveling actors to stage a mock abduction, so that Matt can heroically seem to save Luisa, ending the supposed feud. When the children discover the deception, they reject the arranged love match and separate. Each then gains disillusioning experiences of the real world, seen in parallel fantasy sequences. They return to each other bruised but enlightened, and they renew their vows with more maturity.

Producer Stacey Castlebury and Director Elaine Bankston bring that Broadway flair to our stage with a stellar cast, which includes: Ken Goodman, Thomas Cooper, Timothy Cooper, Natalie Williams, Mark Maddux, , Stacey Castlebury, Kodie Brown and Elizabeth Soleder .

Driving Miss Daisy affectionately covers the 25-year relationship between a wealthy, strong-willed Southern matron (Patsy Slezak) and her equally indomitable Black chauffeur, Hoke (Charles Smith), hired by her son Boolie (Stacey Castlebury), to help look after his elderly mother. Both employer and employee are outsiders, Hoke because of the color of his skin, Miss Daisy because she is Jewish in a WASP-dominated society. At the same time, Hoke cannot fathom Miss Daisy's cloistered inability to grasp the social changes that are sweeping the South in the 1960s. Nor can Miss Daisy understand why Hoke's "people" are so indignant. It is only when Hoke is retired and Miss Daisy is confined to a home for the elderly that the two fully realize that they've been friends and kindred spirits all along.

Periodically when walking by the Visitors Center in downtown Hot Springs you will see pedestrians or tourists looking down at the sidewalk peering down at these black granite slabs with names and details on them laid into the concrete. In case you ever wondered what those signify then well those are the Arkansas Walk of Fame monuments. Since 1996 the AR Walk of Fame has celebrated the lives of Arkansan’s by placing these plaques along the sidewalk.

This year a special ceremony will take place on October 18th, at 11:00 at the Five Star Dinner Theatre directly across from the Walk of Fame. Tom Wilkins who founded and hosted the event announces the names of the new inductees made up this year of actress Joey Lauren Adams from North Little Rock, AR. Adams has recently been helping to promote the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival and will be in attendance for the induction ceremony. Also being inducted is actress Tess Harper who was born in Mammoth Spring, AR. A Golden Globe, and Academy Award nominated actress she was most recently in the 2014 TV Series “True Detective.” Harper along with Adams have both been championing HSDFF.

The renowned artist American artist George Hunt will be inducted this year. The Official Artist for the “Year of the Blues,” his work has been selected to be on a U.S. Postage Stamp and has had his work celebrated all throughout the country. The last individual to be inducted is Nick McDonald, the Arkansas born Dallas police officer who arrested Lee Harvey Oswald an hour after he had shot President John F. Kennedy.

The Arkansas Walk of Fame asks that everyone save the date and join the friends and families of these four Arkansan’s being inducted. It will take place at 701 Central Avenue at the Five-Star Dinner Theatre on October 18th, 2014. There is no charge for attending the event but seating will be limited. For more information contact Tom Wilkins at 501-622-9570 or email arkansaswalkoffame@gmail.com.

Please join us Thursday evening, October 9, 2014 at First Baptist Hot Springs for our Star Studded “Fallen Hero Memorial” Fundraising Event honoring our Veterans and Fallen Heros. This event is FREE and is open to all who wish to attend! Any contributions that attendees wish to make will be gratefully accepted!

Soon we will erect a statue that will honor a select group of individuals, “ The Fallen Soldier Memorial”. This bigger than life treasured bronze statue will be placed on hallowed ground amidst the current Garland County Veterans Memorial. In sole tribute to all those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country, so that we may enjoy the freedoms of today. We feel it is past time to honor these fallen soldiers in such a befitting way.

The Statue itself will consist of a likeness of Local Hero - Navy Seal Team Six Member Adam Brown. Adam's likeness will represent all of those who have gone before him and since. “The Fallen Hero Memorial” will be that endearing tribute that says they will never be forgotten.

We are a Non Profit 501(C)3.

The play was excellent, the actors were excellent and I had such a good time! So many laughs and so entertaining.. Do yourself a favor and go and enjoy a terrific show and meal.

My wife and I, veteran theater goers and buffs, from London Theaters to the Memphis Orpheum, were pleasantly surprised at the production by the members of the 39 Steps cast. The spoof delivered a wonderful lighthearted romp of one of Hitchcocks classics. We even enjoyed the obsure references to other of his works. We look forward to our next visit and challenge other to enjoy not only the show, but the food as well. As we retired members of the Navy would say, "Bravo Zulu".

Jim and Deborah S.

THANK YOU for a wonderful evening. We don't normally go to Openings Nights, but that date was our only choice, and we had a great time. The play was delightful, and we had a wonderful time!

Saundra S.

My parents and niece and I went to see "the 39 steps" last night and the dinner and show was fantastic! The food was excellent and the show was so wonderful, funny, and exciting and very entertaining. Good job to all of you! Keep up the great work!

Shelly N.

We recently attended the Elvis Tribute show presented by Tony Witt. All we can say is "WOW"!!!. Not only was this an awesome tribute but it was very entertaining with humor and inspiration. This was as good a show as we've seen in Branson, Vegas or anywhere. Thank you for providing a venue where folks can enjoy top notch, family entertainment. The Five Star Theatre has our vote! It is truly Five Star!

David K.

Branson entertainer Sting Ray Anthony put on a great 50's and 60's rock and roll show. Thanks for bringing him in to take us down memory lane. The Five Star Theatre rocks!

Donovan N.

This was our first visit to the Five Star Theatre. We have attended shows at another dinner theater in Little Rock and want to commend you on your AWESOME buffet. Not only was the food outstanding, but the buffet was also very "user friendly"! The staff was very attentive and accomodating. No doubt we'll make the trip back to the Five Star Theatre!

Shirley J.

My wife and I have attended many dinner theater presentations over the years. What a nice surprise to walk into such an inviting and "comfortable" environment! The food was outstanding and entertainment was fabulous! We felt so comfortable we wanted to kick off our shoes and make ourselves at home (we didn't however)! Thank you for making us feel so at home! Next time, we might just bring our recliners!!

Jackson T.

You recently presented a tribute to John Denver with Roy Rivers. What can I say, not only was it an outstanding and tastefully tribute but Mr Rivers was an awesome , yet down to earth entertainer. The spirit of JD will continue to live on as long as Roy is around. The only thing that rivaled the entertainment was the great food! Your theater is not only an asset to the dinner theater circuit but to the city of Hot Springs! Kudos!

Brandi O.

Just wanted to say that your presentation of Driving Miss Daisy was as good as it gets! Perfectly cast with and exquisitely performed, we were thoroughly entertained! The time flew by and we were not ready for it to be over! Well done! The name says it all - The FIVE STAR Theatre!

Dr and Mrs Steven C.

Having seen and loved the movie , we decided to give your theater a try when we found out that you were presenting Driving Miss Daisy. Not really sure that it could live up to the screen presentation, we attended with a predisposition for possible disappointment. Boy, were we wrong!! Outstanding presentation! Our first clue about what we were to expect was the fabulous buffet. My wife's comment was , "if the play is half as good as the food, then this will have been worth it." The play outshined the even the awesomeness of the dinner! We will happily be back!

Preston L.

Being from Texas where everything is considered to be "bigger and better", we were in Hot Springs visiting relatives. We always enjoy the "small town" feel of the area (no offense intended). Upon the suggestion to attend your theater, we half-heartedly agreed. What a surprise! There is definitely nothing "small town" about your venue. The buffet was more than fantastic and your presentation was great! We were treated with down-home attention. Southern charm and excellence . . . we need to move you to Texas!

Carol B.

My husband and I have now attended multiple shows at the Five Star. We've attended a couple of your plays, live musical presentations and recently a comedy act. Just to share with you about your comedians Joby Saad and Mark Rubben; it was nice to be able to attended world-class comedic entertainment without the surroundings of a comedy club. Thank You! We feel that we can bring our guests or grandchildren to your theater without fear! Thank you for providing an awesome variety of entertainment in a very pleasant atmosphere! We look forward to attending your theater. We receive more than our moneys worth each time we've visited. However, with all that I've said here, you offer way more value than the price of a ticket! Appreciatively yours!
